MLB.COM, the official website of MLB, released the results of the 2025 Hall of Fame vote on the 22nd (Korea time). 55 experts participated in the expected vote.

The MLB Hall of Fame allows players who have played more than 10 seasons to be elected five years after retirement. There are a total of 10 opportunities, and if you get more than 5% of the vote every year, you can get an opportunity next year even if you are eliminated.

Ichiro received votes from all 55 experts in the category of "Who will be the player to enter the Hall of Fame in 2025?"

MLB.COM said, "It's not surprising that Ichiro received all the votes," adding, "All 55 experts believe Ichiro will enter the Hall of Fame."

Ichiro, who played in the Japanese Professional Baseball (NPB), dominated the MLB stage after signing a contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2001 and entering the big league.

In his debut season, Ichiro became a sensation by winning the Rookie of the Year award and the MVP award of the American League, making 10 seasons of 200 hits. He also recorded 10 All-Star selections and 10 Gold Glove awards.

In 2004, he set a new record for the most hits in a single season with 262 hits, and played as a "hit machine" by hitting 3,089 hits in MLB alone.

Having played in the MLB for 19 years, Ichiro retired in 2019 when he was 46. He played 2,653 games with a batting average of 0.311, 117 homers, 780 RBIs, 3089 hits, and OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 0.757.

Meanwhile, Billy Wagner (53), who failed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in all of his nine previous attempts, will take on the last challenge. Wagner, who recorded his career "422 saves" in the MLB, was unfortunately unable to join the team due to a lack of just five votes in the ninth vote.

However, it will be different this time. Among 55 experts, 54 predicted that Wagner would succeed in the last challenge.

The Hall of Fame vote will be held by reporters from the American Baseball Journalists Association (BBWAA) who have the right to vote until January 1 next year, and the results of the vote will be announced on January 22.
